Marathon Brunch

The Country Music Marathon happened this past weekend.  We have never been in town when all the marathoners are in town and boy were we surprised!  Honestly, I've never seen such a huge amount of traffic and people even during the CMA's! Bright and early Saturday morning the runners and their supporters had us up.

We cheered them on with coffee cups in hand.

Once the crowd cleared the starting gate, we "ran" to brunch beating our previous time crossing the street.  We celebrated accordingly.

We heard after a big run you need to carb load (or is that before).  In any case, we thought oysters were celebratory and good for us and, at The Southern Steak and Oyster, they are the best things on the menu.

I moved on to the Southern Fried Egg Sandwich.  It's essentially a BLT. It said it was served with mashed avocado which was actually a faint hint of green on the bread.  After I asked for extra avocado and sprinkled it with hot sauce it may have raised it to the worth of it's $10 price tag.

The Steak and Biscuit Benedict was a better choice.  Both the steak and eggs were cooked perfectly.

For dessert we had the intriguingly named Red Grits which was tapioca pearls and berries.  You  know it's good when everybody wants to take a picture of it.
