Eric Carle - Frist Art Museum
You can hear it on the radio or see it in a book, but when you see any art form in real life it moves into another layer of your consciousness.
That happened to me with Eric Carle's artwork showing at the Frist Art Museum. I pretty much have all of his books (still) and read them to my children too many times to count. Some were so worn I had to get replacements.
Seeing his original collages, his painting smock and shoes, was like a glimpse into a wonderland.
Eric Carle's background is in graphic design. His images are simple and spare, fun and vibrant. I would love to take my children to show them how much work goes into an image. Like always, it's so much more than ink on paper.
Eric Carle is now 90. He has an Official Eric Carle Website a Facebook page and even a blog. Creativity has no age limit.
The Frist is a great place to escape the rain or to give your senses a break from Broadway.
