M Restaurant and Bar

It almost pains me to recommend M. Right now I feel it's a best-kept secret and pretty soon, I will have trouble getting a table.  As long as the tables are filled with you guys, I guess that's okay! M Restaurant and Bar is tucked away in Cummings Station just a few blocks from the main downtown drag. We've been many times for Sunday Brunch but this was our first time for dinner.

We went with the waiter's recommendation for wine.

We chose the Watermelon Bûlée Salad to start. The watermelon had the crispy sugar bûlée on top and was really refreshing. I'm not sure how long this will stay on the menu since watermelon season is almost over.

The Apple Jack Crusted Scallops were beautiful and perfectly cooked.

The Southern Paella which was also perfectly cooked but not very beautiful.

I was a bit perplexed about the paella since I couldn’t seem to find any rice. It was more like a seafood stew.  The rice was actually in deep-fried fritter form floating on top.  So there’s your southern element!

We ended with another southern staple, coconut cake. I’m pretty picky about my coconut cake.  This one was perfectly moist and just the right about of coconutiness.

The service was superb and Ezra, our waiter, paced it perfectly and got us to our show on time without making us feel rushed and his wine recommendation was spot on.

We worked off the coconut cake on our walk to the Bridgestone Arena where we saw Lionel Richie.
